What is the best career decision that you have made?
I was hesitant to accept John Dornan’s offer to join the staff of the Public School Forum of NC, but finally did. It was the best career decision I ever made. I had so many opportunities to contribute to public education in NC, including being the administrator of the NC Teaching Fellows Program.
If you had to do it over again, what would you do differently?
My life’s journey so far has been full of opportunities for service. If I had done it differently I don’t know what would not have been accomplished.
How have women helped further your career?
There have been so many women helping me achieve in my life; some in charge directing me; some beside me, holding my hand; some challenging me thus pushing me to do more or to do better. I would not have achieved as I have without all of them being in my life at the time they were there and doing what they did to influence me as they did.
