What is the best career decision that you have made?
To continue my higher education to complete my masters and doctorate. These degrees have opened many doors, and ultimately led me to a very satisfying career.
If you had to do it over again, what would you do differently?
The one thing I would do differently in my career: appreciate my friends and family more, and let them know it. Sometimes my ambitions got in the way of the good work needed to keep relationships current.
How have women helped further your career?
Both men and women have helped me in my career; however, I had great role models in my family–teachers and nurses particularly who managed careers and families. I also had the benefit of professional affiliations in BPW and Women’s Forum that offered encouragement and mentoring when I needed it.
