Young Adult Leadership Award

Help Us Honor A Young North Carolinian
with the
Young Adult Leadership Award!

The Young Adult Leadership Award (YALA) honors a young North Carolinian, female or male, between the ages of 21 and 30, who has demonstrated leadership in improving the lives of North Carolinians, especially female. The areas of leadership considered for this award include the fields of community service, the arts, science, physical fitness, health care, family, education, business and the public arena. The finalists receive certificates of recognition and the YALA recipient receives a plaque and $500 cash award.

Schedule for 2007:

August 24: Nomination forms available
September 21: Application postmark deadline
September 26 : Finalists notified
October 5 : Dinner for finalists, judges and committee
October 6 : Finalist interviewed by judges
October 13 : YALA Luncheon at Marriott Hotel, Greensboro

All YALA Finalists are winners. Even though only one finalist receives a cash award, both the winner and finalists become Associate Members of the Women's Forum for one year and are encouraged to participate in the Forum's meetings, mentoring program and other activities. This year the Women's Forum will celebrate it's 19th Annual Young Adult Leadership Awards by publicly recognizing the accomplishments and leadership potential of young adults in North Carolina .

About the Selection Process

In September, finalists will be selected by the YALA Committee. They will be asked to confirm their availability to attend interviews and the awards ceremony. A travel stipend will be provided.

A panel of judges conducts the interviews and makes the final recommendation for the YALA recipient. All finalists are honored at the Young Adult Leadership Awards Ceremony.
