Help Us Honor A Young North Carolinian
with the
Young Adult Leadership
Award!
The Young Adult Leadership Award (YALA)
honors a young North
Carolinian, female or male, between the ages of 21 and 30, who has
demonstrated leadership in improving the lives of North Carolinians,
especially female. The areas of leadership considered for this award
include the fields of community service, the arts, science, physical
fitness, health care, family, education, business and the public arena.
The finalists receive certificates of recognition and
the YALA
recipient receives a plaque and $500 cash award.

All YALA Finalists are winners.
Even though only one finalist receives a cash award, both the winner
and finalists become Associate Members of the Women's Forum for one year
and are encouraged to participate in the Forum's meetings,
mentoring program and other activities.
This year the Women's Forum will celebrate it's 19th Annual Young Adult Leadership
Awards by publicly recognizing the accomplishments and leadership potential of
young adults in North Carolina .
Application Information
The application consists of
- An identification page (nominee's name should appear
on the identification page only)
- A separate narrative (two page maximum) providing the information
outlined
- Two letters of recommendation
- A one page letter from the nominee outlining
personal and professional goals and how Women's Forum members could
serve as mentors
- A one page resume from the nominee
The nomee's name should not appear on the narrative, letters of recommendation,
nominee letter, or resume.

About the Selection Process
In September, finalists will be selected by the YALA Committee.
They will be asked to confirm their availability to attend interviews
and the awards ceremony. A travel
stipend will be provided.
A panel of judges conducts the interviews and makes the final
recommendation for the YALA recipient. All finalists
are honored at the Young Adult Leadership Awards
Ceremony.
