Juanita Bryant of Raleigh has been honored by the North Carolina Democratic Women as the 2012 Democratic Woman of the Year. Read more about her accomplishments at www.democraticwomenofnc.org.

Susan “Smitty” Dotson-Smith has been appointed by Governor Bev Perdue to be one of seven District Court judges in Buncombe County. The appointment came after an interview with the Governor and after receiving the highest number of votes at a meeting of the Buncombe County bar. Smitty has been serving as assistant clerk of court. The Forum offers its congratulations to both of these women for these significant accomplishments.
