Raleigh, NC (May 15, 2010)The WOMEN’S FORUM of North Carolina elected its 2010-2011 officers at their 2010 Spring Conference at the NC Bar Center in Cary, NC.

Members of panel at Spring 2010 Women's Forum Meeting


After the business meeting, Women’s Forum members heard from an informative panel of experts on the topic, “Women and the Economy”, which was followed by a lively question-and-answer time. The strength of the program was the range of professional and personal perspectives presented. The panel members were: Elaine Mejia, Project Director, NC Budget & Tax Center; Roni Boberg, Real Estate Broker, Coldwell Banker, HPW; Louisa Warren, Senior Policy Advocate, NC Justice Center; Andrea Harris, President, NC Institute of Minority Economic Development, Inc.; and Emily Egge, Vice President, Development, Builders of Hope, Inc.

Spring Conference: May 18 and 19

Women’s Forum members will hold a reception on Friday evening, May 18 at The Mahler Fine Art Gallery. Their Saturday meeting, May 19 spring meeting will feature Laura Leslie and Jim Johnson. Both events are in Raleigh.

Calling potential candidates!

Apply by April 2 for training designed to increase the number of women in elected and appointed office in NC.

The Women’s Forum helped found the NC Center for Women in Public Service which is now planning its ninth annual Summer Institute. This year’s class, over two summer weekends, will increase the number of women prepared to assume elected or appointed office.

Forum leads GOTV effort

The Women’s Forum, and president Pat Orrange, have been instrumental in pulling together a nonpartisan coalition that will work to get out the women’s vote in 2012.

The new coalition, NC Women Matter, had a kickoff meeting on Saturday, March 10 in Greensboro. To connect with the coalition see their website www.ncwomenmatter.org.
